Lebialem: Suspected Separatist Kills Teacher, Abducts Five Others

At least one person has been killed and five others reportedly kidnapped by gunmen suspected to be separatist fighters in Lebialem division, South West region.

Report have it that the incident occurred Monday March 28, 2022 in the afternoon in Magha village.

According to information gathered from local sources in the area, the suspects stormed the family compound of Islantis Leku, 31, a History teacher serving in the West region.

According to information from a woman said to be the deceased’s wife in a video circulating online, Islantis had just travelled to the village for the death celebration of his grand mother.

“My husband was sleeping in the sofa, after a very stressful day from the death celebration, while I was in the kitchen. I later heard noice from the house and wanted to go and check, but some gunmen blocked me from enterying. One of them later came and said they have killed my husband. I ran behind the compound and saw him lying in a pull of his blood…,” The deceased’s wife narrated

Away from being a teacher, the 31-year old was undergoing a degree program at the University of Bamenda.

His classmates were shocked after receiving the sudden passing of their mate, which according to some, Islantis was a “quiete and respectful somebody”

Apart of killing the young teacher, it is also revealed that the gunmen kidnapped the deceased’s father and four others and ferried to unknown locations.

We could not immediately get the exact cause of the act, which is termed by many on social media platforms as “barbaric”
