Ugandan politician and musician Bobi Wine has partnered with businessman Neil Nelson to airlift Africans and African-Americans affected by racism in China.
Wine said they will be airlifted “to a country in Africa that is willing to receive them”
The team-up with Neil Nelson, co-founder of media firm Atlanta BlackStar comes after China’s growing racism, xenophobia and hate against foreigners which replaced news of Coronavirus.
Africans reacted massively after several scenes and a video went viral on social media showing that Africans were being targeted in China. They are asked to leave hotels and vacate houses they used to live in.
The Chinese government says it has defeated the virus and new cases are being brought from outside, so Chinese people are targeting outsiders and racism is rampant.
Wine and Neil announced their plans in a joint statement on Monday
“The two leaders are currently working together to facilitate a humanitarian mission to airlift those Africans and African-Americans who are affected by these attacks to a country in Africa that is willing to receive them,” read the press release.
“We are also prepared to evacuate them to the United States for those holding U.S. citizenship or permanent resident status.”
The statement also called on the Chinese government and other global African leaders to take urgent action to protect Africans.
“We call upon leaders from across the global African community including political leaders, social activists, artists and other leaders to join in this effort.”

Tedros Adhanom, head of the World Health Organization (WHO) has condemned as “racist” the comments made by two French doctors who suggested a vaccine for the Covid-19 be tested in Africa.
“Africa can’t and won’t be a testing ground for any vaccine,” said Director General Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.
The doctors’ remarks during a TV debate sparked outrage, and they were accused of treating Africans like “human guinea pigs” in a retaliation statement by Didier Drogba and Samuel Eto’o
One of them later issued an apology.
When asked about the doctors’ suggestion during the WHO’s coronavirus briefing, Dr Tedros became visibly angry, calling it a hangover from the “colonial mentality”
“It was a disgrace, appalling, to hear during the 21st Century, to hear from scientists, that kind of remark.
