An alleged attack by separatist fighters around Checkpoint, Buea central market, and Malingo in city of Buea resulted in panic last night.
There have been close to a dozen confirmed deaths and numerous bullet wound injuries incurred.
When the gunshots started, the locals assumed they were just meant to frighten the people. However, things became serious when chunks of smoke seen in the atmosphere as several cars were burned in the process.
Meantime, no separatist group has taken responsibility for yesterday’s incident, it is believed that civil disobedience against the regular “Ghost Town Mondays” led to yesterday’s act.
Yesterday’s shooting was the first of its kind in a long time, though local authorities have not yet responded.
