Mamfe: About 25 Persons Killed, Several Houses Razed To Ashes

More than 25 persons have been killed and house burnt down in Egbekaw- Mamfe, Manyu Division of the south west region of Cameroon early this Monday, November 6, 2023.

Heavily armed men reportedly stormed Egbekaw village at about 4:00am shooting randomly at civilians and set some houses ablaze with occupants burnt to death. Anyone who tried to escape was shot and killed.

Local sources have point accusing fingers at armed separatists owing to a colleague of theirs who was murdered  in the village recently.

The inhuman act has left the entire village in shock and inconsolable grieve. Meantime, no one has claimed responsibility for the gruesome act.

The Anglophone crisis which started in 2016 has left morethan 7,000 people dead who are civilians, military and separatist fighters, at least 200 villages burnt down,  morethan 1 million people displaced with a recored of at least one person being killed daily in the Anglophone regions of Cameroon.

For many years now injustice has been the order of the day in that part of Cameroon with no significant measures taken to stop the crisis.
