North West: Separatists Kidnap, Murder Deputy Mayor of Balikumbat


His assassination happened days after his kidnapping by suspected separatist fighters in the Northwest region.

According to a video posted on social media, separatist fighters stormed a burial ceremony and kidnapped Passi Christopher, the second deputy mayor of Balikumbat.

His kidnappers succeeded in dispersing the crowd with shots fired into the air, then got hold of him immediately.

Later, a second video saw the assassination of the abducted mayor. Passi Christopher was also headmaster of Mbeukong high school of Ndop, Ngoketunjia.

His kidnappers had demanded for FCFA 20 million from his family, they sent 3 million to the kidnappers, despite this, the mayor was executed and abandoned in the streets of Balikumbat.

It is not the first time such a gruesome act is taking place since the Anglophone crisis started. Meanwhile, the government is yet to make a statement on his demise.
