The moderator of the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon, Rev Fonki Samuel Forba has finally break the silence and announced that fire partially consumed parts of Presbyterian Secondary School Mankon, Bamenda on two separate nights.
On the night of January 22, a fire incident was reported at about 7pm at PSS Mankon Bamenda. It was later reported that the boys dormitory was partially consumed by fire, before the army rescue quenched it.
On the following day, January 23 at about the same time (7pm), another fire reportedly consumed the girls dorm.
It was alleged that separatist fighters set the buildings on flames.
Rev Fonki Samuel has however not pointed to to any party, as whether the act was done by separatist fighters or not. “the source of the fire is yet to be ascertained” a section of the press release reads.
A lot of material damage has been recorded. The affected students have been relocated, according to the press release.
Since the escalation of the Cameroon Anglophone crisis in 2016, school have also been a target.
