Music Legend Manu Dibango Is No More !
Shock has gripped Cameroonians to finally hear that music legend Manu Dibango is dead.
Dibango’s death was first rumoured two days ago, and now confirmed by his team.
Early in March, Emmanuel N’Djoké Dibango was admitted after he tested positive for Coronavirus
“Dear audience,dear friends,
We would like to inform you that further to a recent admission in hospital linked to Covid 19, Manu Dibango is resting well and calmly recovering.
He kindly asks you to respect his privacy.
He can’t wait to meet you again soon, and in those troubled times we all go through, wants you to take very good care of yourselves.
Warmly !” – a message on his Facebook page read
Today March 24, his team has confirmed Manu Dibango passed away this morning.

It is with deep sadness that we announce you the loss of Manu Dibango, our Papy Groove, who passed away on 24th of March 2020, at 86 years old, further to covid 19.
His funeral service will be held in strict privacy, and a tribute to his memory will be organized when possible.

Dibango was a world icon who will be remembered most as the Cameroonian musician and songwriter who played saxophone and vibraphone.
He developed a musical style fusing jazz, funk, and traditional Cameroonian music.
Born in Douala, Cameroon, in 1933, Dibango is best recognised for his Grammy Award-winning track Soul Makossa.
The song topped the charts in 1973 and went on to be sampled by various musicians including late King of Pop Michael Jackson and US-based popstar Rihanna.
