On Thursday, August 31st, 2023, a Judge in Maryland, USA is reported to have ordered the arrest of popular Ambazonia activist, Eric Tataw.
Court documents showed that Eric Tataw was under investigation for violation of various federal offenses including wire fraud and the paycheck protection program (PPP).
During the COVID-19 pandemic period in 2020, the American government under Donald Trump installed a COVID fund called Paycheck Protection Program (PPP), in the form of a loan to help Business men.
After Investigations, it alleged that Eric Tataw applied for the PPP loan under his company ” National Telegraph LLC” and was accepted for two PPP loans amounting to over $163,000 in 2020 and 2021.
Although on social media critics say Eric Tataw was being arrested for his role as amln Ambazonian activist in the Cameroon Anglophone crisis, is it yet unconfirmed if any of these are related to his stand as an activist.
Meantime, Eric Tataw’s team is yet to issue an official statement on the real event surrounding his arrest.
