Emmanuel Macron has been reelected as president of France. The final voting results were made known on Sunday April 24, 2022.
The 44-year old France politician defeated his opponent, Marine Le Pen by 58.55% to 41.45%, a greater margin than expected.
Elected as President of France in 2017, Macron is the first sitting president in 20 years to be re-elected.
Despite her loss, Ms Le Pen, 53, said her significant vote shall still marked a victory. She told her supporters on Sunday.
After his win, Macron told jubilant supporters at the foot of the Eiffel Tower that now that the election was over he would be a “president for all”.
