Emmanuel Macron has been reelected as president of France. The final voting results were made known on Sunday April 24, 2022.
The 44 year old France politician defeated his opponent, Marine Le Pen by 58.55% to 41.45%, a greater margin than expected.
Elected as president of France in 2017, Macron is the first sitting president in 20 years to be re-elected.
Despite her loss, Ms Le Pen, 53, said her significant vote shall still marked a victory. She told her supporters on Sunday.
After his win, Macron told jubilant supporters at the foot of the Eiffel Tower that now that the election was over he would be a “president for all”.
