Cameroon Media: As A Tribute To Martinez Zogo, Journalists Dress In Black

On January 25, journalists in Cameroon have announced a nationwide mobilization to pay tribute to their colleague Martinez Zogo as many continue to seek answers to the brutal murder of the Amplitude FM’s host.

Cameroon’s Association of English Speaking Journalists, CAMASEJ in Douala called on journalists across the nation dress in black this Wednesday January 25, 2023 to pay homage to thier fallen colleague.

Martinez Zogo was found dead five days after he was declared missing. His body was found in a decomposing state on Tuesday, January 17.

“The gruesome assassination of Martinez Zogo, a radio animator with Amplitude FM based in Yaounde is a wake-up call and an attack on the media. We at CAMASEJ Douala are hurting and in pain because once more a life is lost simply because they were doing their job,” CAMASEJ Douala reiterated.

Though the government has promised to ensure his killers are investigated and brought to justice, nation wide and international pressure continue to mount with journalists not ready to give up on their slain colleague.

“Today it is Martinez; who knows, tomorrow it might be you reading this text. As we go through these troubled times, let’s mobilise and use the microphones and pens we have. Let’s keep the pressure until those who kill and molest journalists are brought to book.”

Preliminary findings, showed that Martinez Zogo was tortured, fingers missing and was also electrocuted. Reports have it that Zogo was killed while in the process of investigating a certain fraudulent dealing involving Anecdote Media Group founder, Amougou Belinga.
