Cameroon’s main opposition party, SDF has made a request for the cancellation of the recent senatorial elections in the South West Region.
The SDF authority forwarded a petition to the constitutional court advancing reasons for the cancellation of the Sunday 25th March elections.
One of such reasons was a “suspected fraud” in Lebialem and other incidents which interrupted elections across the region.
This comes months after instability in the English speaking regions of Cameroon.
The election is supposed to usher in 70 senators across the country out of a total of 100 needed. However, SDF’s petition is yet to be responded to and the media patiently waits to see if the elections would be cancelled.
