The military government that overthrew President Ali Bongo Ondimba on August 30 this year announced on Monday, November 14, that elections to democratically elect a new president will take place in August 2025.
The information was made known to the public by the Transitional Committee for the Restitution of Institutions.
“August 2025: elections and end of the transition”, announced the military power spokesman live on state television Gabon Première.
Ali Bongo’s 14-year rule was ended by military leaders on August 30, 2023, moments after he was proclaimed the winner in a presidential election, which both the army and the opposition termed fraudulent.
