Despite the unhappiness of several club presidents following a delay of financial assistance from the Cameroon Football Federation, FECAFOOT, the federation has insisted clubs will only acquire payment upon submission of necessary documents.
Reacting to the disgruntlement of numerous club presidents, the federation has released a statement stating that the payment of the money will be made.
During a meeting on March 6, 2023, FECAFOOT indicated that “Regarding the support of the federation to elite clubs, the Emergency Committee decided to grant the entire third installment in advance to all the clubs of our MTN Elite One championship.”
The first two installments had been paid already, though some clubs delaying to submit their required documents have not received their subventions.
Recently, there has been a strained relationship between the federation and clubs over issues of finance as some clubs have promised to back out of the rest of the 2022/2023 season.
A month ago, UMS of Loum complained of the club being dragged into crisis by FECAFOOT and
hence declared thier withdrawal from the season.
“The federation gives us rendezvous which they don’t respect. No information, they don’t tell us anything. Players protest, making us understand that we receive money from the federation which is supposed to be used to pay them, whereas there is nothing,” UMS of Loum published in a statement.
Though the league championship is still ongoing full flesh, some clubs have continued to tender thier plea to FECAFOOT for payments to be facilitated.
