Cameroon joins the international community to celebrate International Peace Day this Thursday, September 21, 2023, under the theme “Action Peace; Our Ambition for Global Goals”.
Prior to this, the Cameroon Human Rights Commission (CHRC) has called on Anglophone Separatist fighters in Cameroon’s two English-speaking regions of Cameroon to observe 24-hour of peace and to make exceptional efforts towards lasting peace.
The request was made on Wednesday, September 20, 2023, in a 6-page document from the commission in which the CHRC condemned the recent double attacks on Friday, September 15 in Mutengene and Limbe in the South West region.
The Commission also noted regrettably the slow development in Cameroon’s two English-speaking regions hinting a drop in the execution of public investment budgets in 2022.
To celebrate this year’s celebration in Cameroon, the Ministry of Youth affairs and Civic Education has recruited about 1000 e-volunteers and sent to all 10 regions of the country for an online campaign against hate speech and tribalism which are considered as main causes of war.
