It’s One Year Since DJ Arafat’s Death

365 days ago, on August 12, 2019, Ivory Coast’s DJ Arafat, a well-known singer in French-speaking Africa died following a traffic accident.

He was admitted at the hospital in the main city, Abidjan, with a fractured skull after his motorcycle collided with a car

On Saturday, August 31, the remains of the artist was buried in the Williamsville Cemetery – in Adjamé, but anxious fans exhumed his corpse just to make sure he was truly gone

Known professionally as DJ Arafat, Arafat Muana and various other stage names, the Ivorian DJ and singer made music in the Coupé-Décalé genre.

“Jonathan”, “202”, “Dosabado”, “Kpangor”, “Zoropoto” and “Enfant Beni” were some of his major hits with several awards to his name including “Best Artist of the Year” at the Coupé-Decalé Awards in the year 2016 and 2017
