Mali’s president, Ibrahim Boubacar Keira, has resigned and dissolved parliament, saying “i want no blood to be spilled to keep me in power”
This comes hours after he was arrested together with his prime minister, Boubou Cisse by military officers yesterday.
“If today certain elements of our armed forces want this to end through their intervention, do I really have a choice?” Mr Keita added.
The President won his second mandate to rule the country in 2018 but his stay in power has sparked a lot of revolts, his people accusing him of corruption and alledged mismanagement of funds.
