Teachers To Strike Due To Unpaid Bonuses

Teachers in Cameroon have promised to strike from Monday, October 9, after going for months without their due bonuses owed them by the government and their advances for years now.

This information was made public in a release published by the Teachers Trade Union on Wednesday October 4, 2023.

The communiqué expressed dissatisfaction of the government’s promises to bring about a solution to the multiple problems on September 28, 2023 which has yielded no fruits.

This move from the Teachers’s Trade Union came a day before the celebration of the international Teacher’s day.

It should be noted that the government of Cameroon made an outing on September 28, during which they revealed a good number of measures put in place to resolve teacher’ disgruntlment.

As per why this new twist,  pupils in the nursery, primary and secondary schools have been asked to stay home as from the above mentioned date.

However, parents fear that this new move by teachers might lead to a blanc school year.
