Ghana: President Nana Addo Promises Free Chocolate Daily For Every Student

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has promised to introduce a scheme in Ghana that will provide every student with free chocolate or cocoa products every day.
The decision is linked with the governments plan to increase local consumption of cocoa products from the worlds second largest producer of the cash crop.

The program to be launched soon would be in partnership with other cocoa companies who have confirmed their support already

“Our target is to provide every Ghanaian student with a bar of chocolate or cocoa beverage each day whilst in school. Government agencies are to ensure the sustained provision of cocoa beverages and chocolates to school children from primary school to secondary level”.

The project was unveiled in a dual event to celebrate the World Cocoa Day and the 70th anniversary of the countrys cocoa pricing company, Ghana Cocoa Board.

Ghana is now ranked as the second most productive Cocoa supplier in the world after Ivory Coast that produces a large quantity yearly.
