One of Cameroon’s Prolific playwright, poet and scholar, Prof. Nkemngong Nkengasong is no more.
The author of the famous historical literary piece ‘Across the Mongolo’ reportedly died on June 12, 2023 at the Yaounde Central hospital after a prolonged illness.
The academic scholar was a professor of literature and cultural studies at the University of Yaounde 1 before quiting the scene aged 64.
He was awarded Honorary Fellow in Writing – University of Iowa – 2008, EkoPrize for Literature – 2013, Knight of the Cameroon Order of Valour – 2016
