Updates Of Baby Theft At Laquintini Hospital

Following the disappearance of a newborn baby since March 31, 2023, at the Douala Laquintini Hospital, the Minster of Public Health, Dr. Manaouda Malachite arrived Douala this morning to pay a visit to the hospital.

After meeting with the Governor, the hospital admins and the woman in question, the Minister concluded that no baby was stolen in the hospital.

It was also discovered that the woman’s embryo did not reach 7 months as per the video manking rounds on the Internet of her saying she was 8 months pregnant.

Rather, it was an untimely delivery that caused the death of the fetus. The Director of the hospital admitted that the staffs who attended to the woman didn’t act well. They flushed the “non viable fetus” in the sink instead of showing letting the woman see it first.

The Director equally frowned at the lack of proper communication among the staffs on duty that day and also promised to reinforce security cameras in the hospital.

It was concluded that afterwards, every pregnant woman received by the hospital and ready to put to birth can enter the labour room with either a family member or friend.

Meanwhile from Douala, the Minister will head to Nkongsamba for other administrative issues.
