Far North: At Least Three Soldiers Feared Dead In Mine Explosion

About three soldiers have perished following a mine explosion in Kolofata, a locality of the Mayo Sava Division, Far North region of Cameroon on March 21, 2023.

According to the French newspaper L’Oeil du Sahel and other reports, the mine explosion occured at the same time a BIR vehicle was passing by.

The blast killed three soldiers and left several wounded.

The Boko Haram insurgence has persisted in the region since 2013
and by 2016, the confrontation had left about 1,300 dead, causing 155,000 to be displaced with over 72,000 refugees.

The area now faces new threats of insecurity following this recent attack given that life had returned to normal after several years of unrest.
