Cameroon : Government Suspends Travel Agency After Ghastly Accident Leaves 14 Dead

After 14 persons were declared dead, Cameroon’s Minister of Transport, Ngalle Bibehe Jean Ernest has suspended the Touristique Express bus agency.

The 14 persons passed away in a ghastly accident that happened several kilometers from Garoua-Boulaï, East Region on May 9, 2023.

Their suspension was contained in a public release signed on May 11, 2023, by the Minister of Transport.

Reports say the driver of the bus that was heading to Ngaoundéré had fallen asleep and lost control of the vehicle, causing the accident.

The tragic incident left 14 dead including 19 injured who were rushed to the integrated health center of Bindiba.

The agency has been given a one month suspension with the Minister hinting that it is “possibly renewable”.

Many have equally pointed fingers at the government for failing to construct proper roads that have led to such accidents.
