Buea: Military Court Frees 5 NGO Members Accused Of Citing With Secessionists

Five members of the Doctors Without Boarders (MSF) charged and detained for "complicity with secessionist" for months, have been acquitted by the military tribunal in Buea, South West Region of Cameroon.

Five members of the Doctors Without Boarders charged and detained for “complicity with secessionist” for months, have been acquitted by the military tribunal in Buea, South West Region of Cameroon.

Doctors Without Borders, an international NGO, known by it’s French acronym MSF issued a statement January 10, 2023 celebrating the court’s decision.

“The international medical humanitarian organisation
Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders (MSF) is extremely relieved at the acquittal of five of our staff, who faced trial in Cameroon, accused of complicity with secession,” MSF said in a statement.

DWB regrets that its staff spent many months in jails but also categorically denies any complicity with armed groups or parties in any violent crisis or conflict.

However DWB coordinator in Central Africa Sylvain Groulx hinted that the organization’s desire to continue humanitarian activities in the South West Region Cameroon under better conditions.
