After Peter Mafany Resigns, Cameroon Senate Permits Members of Government to Assume Dual Posts

Few hours after Senator Peter Mafany dropped his resignation letter which had him stripped off his functions as a senator, the Cameroon Senate House has adopted a new law stating that members of government can assume dual posts of responsibilities. The June 3 2017 decree holds that one can be President of Administrative Council while functioning as member of government. This implies that members of government and ministers can assume two posts provided they serve conveniently without distraction or conflicting interests. This comes to counteract article 21 of the 1999 law which stated that no member of government can be President of administrative Council.
Senator Peter Mafany who public opinion holds he resigned to focus on his Musonge-led Balingualism and Multiculturalism commission is recorded as one of the rare personalities who resign from the prestigious position of senator. With his resignation, one can only look forward to an affective output from his commission.
